During the residency in Milan, I planned to create a ceramic sculpture that weaves together textures, glazes, and clay bodies to evoke pathways, voids, and etched fragments reflecting the shared themes in Igiaba Scego's La mia casa è dove sono and Anita Desai's Clear Light of Day - women's silenced voices, fractured identities, and the lingering scars of colonial and postcolonial histories. This piece will take the form of a tree bark-like structure, its cracks and hollow spaces symbolizing migration, loss, resilience, and the hidden stories that persist within. A key focus of my residency will be developing new glaze recipes to bring back into my practice, while also experimenting with combining two contrasting clay bodies: a European clay and a clay sourced from Dharavi which I will fire seperately and unite into a single form.
