Since May 2022, Chemould CoLab has hosted an annual summer-monsoon residency program that runs from May to August, open to artists working in the contemporary space. Artists are invited to live and work in Mumbai for 10-12 weeks to develop projects and draw inspiration from the city's cultural environment.
The residency is based at Sugra Manzil, a historic building located in Colaba, Mumbai, that has been converted into both an artist studio and a gallery space, while retaining the original architectural features.
Interactive activities such as workshops, open studios, and mentorship sessions are held in collaboration with the resident artists to encourage dialogue among artists as well as with the broader community. At the conclusion of their residency, artists are given the opportunity to exhibit and present the projects they have worked on during their time at Chemould CoLab.
