Husband-and-wife artist duo Anilakumar (Anila) Govindappa and Jayeeta Chatterjee are the featured artists for the Summer-Monsoon Residency 2026. Both are established printmakers known for their use of woodcut and sculptural printmaking techniques.
Anila Govindappa

Born in 1993 in Bangalore, Karnataka, Anilakumar Govindappa is a multidisciplinary artist trained in painting and printmaking. Best known for his monumental woodcut prints and paintings, his layered compositions unfold like visual storyboards, weaving together personal memory and observations with political realities. Drawing from everyday life, his practice reflects on the impact of human action on ecosystems, communities, and society. During his residency, he focused on creating work relating to themes of migration and cities.

Jayeeta Chatterjee

Born in 1995, in Bolpur, West Bengal, Jayeeta Chatterjee is an artist trained in printmaking whose practice brings together woodcut, textiles, and embroidery. Best known for her intricate woodcut prints on old saris, interwoven with traditional Nakshi Kantha embroidery, her work traces the everyday lives of rural women in India, through intimate narratives which bring about themes of domestic labour, work, and identity. Jayeeta is returning for her second residency this time at CoLab, and is currently working towards Frieze London which will take place from October 14 to 18, 2026.
